June 24, 1916 The woman who would later marry John Grimek, Angela, was born. John first noticed her at a picnic, I believe, and knew he had to meet her. She passed on September 22, 2013.

I have found very little about the French? bodybuilder Royo Danilo. He tied for 7th on August 15, 1948 at the Concurs Du Plus Bel Athlete De France at Canned (tied with Jean Dubois).

Then relevant to a July first, the following:

July 01, 1950 Royo Danilo won Mr. Paris.

July 04, 1939 Roland Essmaker became the first AAU Mr. America. Even S&H magazine acknowledged this for many years, then switched it to asserting Grimek was the first.

On this same day, a future AAU Mr. America was born. Who?

July 07, 2018 It is now two years since Terry Todd died. His legacy will be in his writing, his connection to the Stark Center in Austin, Texas, his helping organize the Arnold Strongman competition in Columbus, and his power lifting achievements. Some of his emails to me were masterpieces of writing. I miss him. I miss the chance to banter and verbally spar with him. I miss that the great pen is paused.

Rest in peace, Terry.

July 08, 1970 Chris Dickerson appeared on the Johnny Carson TV Show (Tonight Show). You know Chris won the 1970 AAU Mr. America. But had he won by the time he made this TV appearance?
